Summer Online Chess Class!

Join us for Summer Online Chess Class, an exciting 8-week program designed to help young players sharpen their skills, build strategy, and grow their confidence on the board. From June 12 through August 1, 2026, students will learn in a fun, supportive online environment led for both beginners and intermediate players.

Classes meet on Fridays from 6:30–7:30 PM for ages 6–10 and Saturdays from 10:00–11:00 AM for ages 10–12. The program is priced at $175, making it a great summer opportunity for kids to develop focus, problem-solving, and critical thinking through chess.

Chandler School Partnership

Eight by Eight Enrichment began offering classes at Chandler School in June 2023, and we’ve proudly served children ages 5–12 ever since.

What started as a single chess-based enrichment class has grown into a trusted program that families look forward to each session. Our curriculum supports beginners through advanced learners, helping students build confidence, strategy, teamwork, and leadership skills in a fun, supportive environment.

We continue to collaborate closely with the Chandler community to offer high-quality enrichment experiences each year.

We’re excited to announce a new partnership with Pasadena Rosebud Academy, with enrichment classes beginning February 2026.

Students will have the opportunity to engage in structured chess instruction, strategic thinking exercises, and friendly tournament play.

Meet the Coaches

Coach Daniel Brown

Daniel Brown is a dedicated chess instructor with over five years of hands-on teaching experience, guiding students of all ages and skill levels. His passion for youth development shines through in every lesson, as he empowers learners to think critically, build confidence, and discover their unique strengths on and off the chessboard.

Daniel has worked extensively with LAUSD, teaching students from kindergarten through 12th grade in both classroom and enrichment settings. His approach blends strategy, patience, and creativity, making chess accessible and engaging to beginners while still challenging more advanced players to grow.

Known for his calm teaching style and ability to connect with students, Daniel creates a positive learning environment where every child feels supported, motivated, and excited to learn. He believes chess is more than a game—it’s a tool for sharpening focus, strengthening decision-making, and cultivating lifelong resilience.

Coach Salimah

has been teaching chess for over 15 years. She has over 10 years of experience as the director of an after-school chess enrichment company where she gained experience managing and training chess instructors. She specializes in teaching elementary-age children beginner chess concepts in a fun and engaging way.
